In the Twilight Zone

I never thought I would post something on Twilight, but here it is. I haven't read the books. I watched the first film on DVD. It was decent. I haven't seen the second film, but I'm sure I'll check it out soon. Anyhow, to all those fans who are being teased for their obsession with these books/films... I completely sympathise with you. I think it's awesome you're so passionate about this story and I definitely see where you're coming from.

When Lord of the Rings was released in the theatres, it got me hook, line, and sinker. I bought the books. I read them all. I waited anxiously for the films, each released one year apart (on Boxing Day from memory). I had the one-sheet posters on my wall. I bought the soundtracks. I bought the DVD's. I bought the extended edition DVD's. And I still have a talking Gollum toy sitting on my bedside table. Here's the geek clincher. My parents bought me a book titled Lord of the Rings: Weapons and Warfare. It presents a full historical account of the War of the Ring. Nerd alert! Whatever. Middle Earth is rad. The stories and themes are timeless. This is a classic piece of literature, regardless of the dweeby fandom that comes with it.

I'm not embarrassed that I was a little nuts for Lord of the Rings. And I don't mind hearing all this hype for New Moon whatsoever. Even if it's overkill, it's making somebody happy. Stand up for yourself Twilight fans! Your friends will never experience the fulfillment of being swept away by an amazing story.
