Them Crooked Vultures

It all seems quite secretive. No official video. No single released. But Them Crooked Vultures, the supergroup made up of Dave Grohl, Josh Homme, and Zeppelin's John Paul Jones are real and will be touring Australia early next year. Their debut album is released some time next month I believe. For now, here's a low-quality vid from a recent gig in Belgium.

His Airness

Your newest addition to the NBA Hall of Fame. He won a couple of titles and could hover in mid air.

Interesting fact: The VIP reception was held at his restaurant, the Michael Jordan Steakhouse.

Music from the Musos

The past couple of weeks have seen some great new albums drop. Jay-Z released Blueprint 3, Jamie T finally gave us his sophmore effort Kings & Queens, and we also had Arctic Monkeys with Humbug. All fantastic albums that are getting plenty of play on my iTunes right now. And it gets better. On the back of their single "Uprising" (being flogged to death on radio right now), Muse have released The Resistance. This is a band that goes from strength to strength and continues to meet the high expectations. Here's the cover art for their 5th studio release and self-produced album The Resistance and beneath it, a short clip from NME:

Cuban Linx II

Raekwon's follow up to his '95 masterpiece Only Built 4 Cuban Linx... was released last week. I haven't had the chance to listen to the album in its entirety, but OB4CL2 was ranked the number one downloaded album available on iTunes for the first two days of its release. The reception so far has been very positive and I'm looking forward to getting back in touch with the Wu sometime this week. Here's the clip for "The New Wu":

2D Animation is Back

Why would Disney make a 2D film when all the hype surrounding the 3D revolution is being shoved down our throats? Well, perhaps some stories lend themselves better to different formats (like 2D). That's not to say that this film, along with classics like The Lion King or The Little Mermaid wouldn't look great in 3D. All this aside, it really comes down to story and what resonates with the audience. I truly hope Disney can return to their golden age of animation with The Princess and the Frog. Take a look:
