SIGUR RÓS - INNI

Sigur Rós have just released their first live album Inni, accompanied by an 'artsy' film that focuses on the band's performance. If their Heima doco from 2007 is anything to go by, should be pretty visceral stuff. But when are we gonna see some new material?! 2012, I'm betting. The same year Herman Cain becomes the next U.S. President.

The Abstract

Q-Tip performing live at the 2011 Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival. From a spectator's POV, these clips by spotcoffee are about as good as it gets.

BROOKLYN!

2011 Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival. How did I miss this? The festival is only in its 7th year and was held during July at the Empire–Fulton Ferry State Park. Go to Brooklyn Bodega to learn more and make it your mission to be there next year.

'SOULA COASTER'

Yes, this is the title of R. Kelly's new autobiography. But mock him all you like, because 'Trapped In The Closet' is still a work of genius.

The Roots: 'Tip The Scale'

How I Got Over was one of the great hip hop albums of last year. It ran about 40-minutes in length and its straightforward rhymes made it painless for the lyrically challenged like myself to understand. I like that. The Roots breezed through fourteen tracks of light jazz and soul vibes and returned to their day jobs as Fallon's house band. They probably should have won the Grammy.

Now, Philly's finest return with their new album Undun pencilled in for a Dec. 6 release. Wasn't sure we'd see anything new from these guys in 2011, but they've just released a vid for the album's 9th track - 'Tip The Scale'. Better yet, they will continue to upload one new video at exactly 12.06pm every Tuesday until Undun drops. Cool, dawg.

Watch Eminem kill this!

M83

Very much looking forward to this being released next week. Mark Oct. 18 into your diaries because electronic pop act M83 will be releasing their new album Hurry Up, We're Dreaming. If I were a musician, this is the kind of stuff I'd wanna be playing. Truly atmospheric!
